Lash Lift and Tint Aftercare: First 48 Hours & Do's/Don'ts

By First Lady Of Waxing LLC | August 26, 2026

Lash Lift and Tint (60 minutes, $95) is one of my favorite “wake up ready” services for Scottsdale. The biggest aftercare rule is simple: keep your lashes dry and oil-free for the first 48 hours. That means no steam, no swimming, no sweaty workouts, and no oily skincare around the eyes. Protect those first two days, and your curl and tint usually stay pretty and even for weeks.

Lash lift and tint aftercare guide for the first 48 hours in Scottsdale

If you booked your lash lift and tint because you want lashes that look like mascara without the weight, aftercare is what keeps it looking that way. I’m appointment-only and I keep things private, clean, and efficient, so you can get back to life fast. This guide is the same straight talk I give in the room, especially for my Shea Corridor and North Scottsdale clients coming in from Scottsdale Airpark or Kierland.

First 24 to 48 hours: the rules that protect the curl set

Think of the first two days as “hands off, heat off, water off.” A lash lift and lash tint needs time to fully set, and this is where most people accidentally shorten their results.

Do this

  • Keep lashes completely dry. Shower with your face out of the stream if you can.
  • Sleep on your back if possible. If you’re a side sleeper, just try not to smash your lashes into the pillow.
  • If you need to clean around the eyes, use a slightly damp cotton swab around the area, not on the lashes.

Skip this

  • No steam, sauna, hot yoga, or super hot showers. Heat plus moisture is the fastest way to relax the lift.
  • No swimming or pool days yet. Chlorine and saltwater can pull tint and mess with the set.
  • No oil-based cleanser, makeup remover, facial oil, or rich eye cream near the lashes. Oil breaks down the lift and can fade tint early.
  • No rubbing your eyes. If something feels stuck, let me know before you start picking at it.

Scottsdale reality check: our hot, dry summers and monsoon humidity make “light sweating” turn into real sweating fast. For the first 48 hours, try to avoid midday sun and anything that has you dripping, even a quick hike or a long range session.

If you’re asking yourself, “Can I just do a quick rinse?” it’s usually not worth it. Those first 48 hours are where you earn the long wear.

Days 3 to 7: keep lashes separated, skip the curler

Once you’re past that 48-hour mark, you can go back to normal face washing. But the first week is still when habits make a difference, especially if you’re active around North Scottsdale and don’t want your lift to fall early.

Mascara and makeup rules that keep the tint looking even

I recommend skipping mascara for the first week. Your lashes already look darker from the tint, and mascara can add residue that clumps lashes together. If you do wear makeup after those first days, stick with oil-free remover and keep your hands gentle. No aggressive scrubbing at the lash line.

Don’t use an eyelash curler

Curlers can crimp lifted lashes and make them look uneven. If you want that wide-eyed look, brushing them up and out does more than people think.

Oil-free cleansing + a clean spoolie: the low-effort routine that makes results last

After a lash lift tint, your best “product” is usually your routine. You don’t need a drawer full of stuff. You need two things done consistently.

1) Clean with something gentle and oil-free

When you wash your face, use a gentle cleanser and keep it away from heavy oils around the eyes. Rinse, then pat dry. Pressing a towel into lashes or rubbing at the lash line is where you’ll see lashes start crossing or twisting.

2) Brush nightly for separation

Use a clean spoolie and brush upward, lightly. This helps keep that “mascara look” without actual mascara, and it keeps your lift looking even across both eyes.

Sunscreen tip for Scottsdale: choose an oil-free sunscreen around the eye area, and give it a minute to set before you touch your face. Sunscreen plus sweat can migrate, and rubbing it off your lashes is where people accidentally rough up the lift.

How long a lash lift and tint lasts (and when to book your retouch)

Most lash lift and tint results last about 6 to 8 weeks. How long you stay in the “perfect” phase depends on your natural lash growth cycle, how oily your skincare is around the eyes, and how hard you are on them when you wash your face.

If you’ve got a wedding, a trip, or photos coming up, don’t wait until the last minute. I’d rather see you a little early than try to squeeze in a fix when your lashes are mid-shed. And if you’re commuting around Scottsdale, Phoenix, Paradise Valley, Fountain Hills, Cave Creek, or Mesa, it helps to schedule your maintenance when you’re already in the area. A 60-minute appointment fits nicely into a lunch break or an after-work stop, especially if you’re near the Shea Corridor, Kierland, or Scottsdale Airpark.

If you’re curious about the service itself and what it does for your day-to-day, I also wrote a deeper guide on lash lifts and tinting in the Shea Corridor.

When to text me, what’s normal, and how I support you after

Right after a lash lift and tint, it’s normal for lashes to feel a little “present” because they’re freshly lifted. It’s also normal to notice the tint looks darkest at first and then softens slightly after a few days.

Reach out if you notice strong irritation, lashes sticking together that you can’t gently separate with a clean spoolie, or one side looking dramatically different once you’re past that first day. Don’t force it by rubbing or picking. I’m quick, I’m thorough, and I’ll tell you exactly what to do next so you don’t lose your result.

“Wonderful experience. I really enjoyed going. I would 100% recommend her. She gave me advice on how to maintain and manage. She checked in on how I'm doing throughout the service. I will go back again. Give her a try!”
